What are the responsibilities and job description for the Thermopac Quality Tech position at AMERIQUAL?
This is a 2nd shift position, 1p-9:30p, must be available to work weekends.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Daily calibration tasks: Verification of aqua titrate, scale, Aqua lab A W, digital/fluke thermometers, and pH meter every four hours.
- Weekly calibration tasks: CEM Smart Machine, Brookfield, and AoAC.
- AoAC: Manual checking of salt against titration, which is done weekly if MRE cheese is running, if not it is done monthly.
- Specific testing, titrable acidities, salt, viscosity, fat, moisture, color and taste, hourly moisture on cheese on each sample, MRE samples every 30 minutes and twice per shift. Complete 24 and 28 hour testing.
- Notifying supervisors when adjustments need to be made.
- Recording results on product lab sheet.
- Files all paperwork in proper place as required.
- Maintain laboratory equipment.
- Keep inventory of any need suppliers and records order supplies
- Record calibration results in calibration book.
- Train other lab technicians as needed.
- Grading of Finished Goods samples
- Making of solutions (nitric acid solution, glacial acid/sodium solution).
- Stocking utensils and solutions needed for the next day, wiping down counter tops, turning off specified lab equipment.

- Depth perception is necessary to properly inspect products.
- Tactile sensation is necessary to properly operate equipment
- Smelling is necessary for product evaluation
- Visual acuity is necessary for equipment calibrations, requires the use of color perception to perform color-matching tests accurately.
Physical requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to stand for extended periods of time as well as walk frequently. Bending and squatting may also be required. The associate is frequently required to use arms to reach out and use hands to grasp objects and/or controls. The associate must regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Operating in standard seasonal warehouse and food processing plant temperature conditions.
