What are the responsibilities and job description for the VHA - VCDC Program Development & Communications VISTA position at AmeriCorps?
Virginia Housing Alliance’s (VHA) AmeriCorps VISTA project is a statewide intermediary project with 18 Host Sites, all that either work to expand affordable housing opportunities and/or end homelessness throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. VHA’s VISTA project aims to develop viable communities by promoting integrated approaches that provide decent housing, suitable living environments, and expansive economic opportunities for low and moderate-income persons. This listing is to fill the Host Site opening at VCDC Community Lenders in Richmond, VA. VCDC Community Lenders is a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) based in Richmond that provides flexible, low-cost loans and technical assistance to developers creating and preserving affordable housing across Virginia. With a severe shortage of affordable rental homes and rising homelessness statewide, low-income households face unsustainable housing costs and heightened risk of eviction. VCDC-CL and the Virginia CDFI Coalition work to close these gaps, but limited capacity and recent funding cuts constrain their ability to expand impact. The Communications and Program Development VISTA will strengthen systems for storytelling, borrower engagement, fundraising, and coalition coordination. By building tools for impact tracking, outreach, and statewide collaboration, the VISTA will enhance operational efficiency and increase access to capital for affordable housing projects. VCDC-CL is seeking a VISTA member to help build this infrastructure and expand financing that supports stable housing and economic mobility across Virginia.
