Easterseals Wisconsin operates Camp Wawbeek and Respite Camp in Wisconsin Dells, WI. These camps are therapeutic recreation programs for children, youth, and adults with a wide range of disabilities. Campers engage in a full range of accessible activities in a safe and supportive environment. This allows the parents and caregivers a much needed break from primary caregiver responsibilities. Member Duties : The AmeriCorps Respite Apprentices serving at Easterseals Wisconsin Camps will provide personal care and therapeutic recreation activities that encourage healthy lifestyles for people with disabilities. Members are responsible for activity programming, encouraging campers to participate in camp activities, ensuring camper safety, and promoting and assisting with personal care. Members receive training on how to provide recreation and care for people with disabilities, Conflict Resolution, and civic participation. This summer members will serve a minimum of 900 hours while living at camp from May - August 14th, 2026. Members are provided with extensive training, room and board (housing and meals),a living stipend totaling $6,500 for the full term of service, and an Education Award upon successful completion of the full term of service
