What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2026 HFH DuPage | Housing Action Corps | Systems position at AmeriCorps?
The Construction Systems Coordinator will serve with DuPage and Chicago South Suburbs Habitat for Humanity in Wheaton, IL from September 2026-2027. DuPage and Chicago South Suburbs Habitat for Humanity is part of Housing Action Corps, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. Housing Action Corps members receive custom training, support, and networking opportunities in housing and community development, in addition to the traditional benefits of AmeriCorps VISTA. We provide affordable mortgages and home repairs to communities across DuPage County and Chicago South Suburbs. We aim to reduce poverty and housing instability in our community by building and repairing affordable housing more efficiently and sustainably. The Construction Systems Coordinator will enhance project tracking, documentation, and cross-department communication to streamline our construction programs and increase our homebuilding output. Our ideal candidate is highly organized, systems-oriented, and motivated to build sustainable processes that strengthen our long-term capacity to address housing insecurity in our community. They bring a strong interest in construction operations, project coordination, and nonprofit administration, and are comfortable working across departments. Previous experience in construction, even as a volunteer, is a plus!

Member Duties : Our community faces rising housing costs and a limited affordable supply that leave many households at risk of instability. Expanding access to safe, affordable homeownership for low-income families will help them sustainably achieve stability, build equity, and break the cycle of poverty. The Construction Systems Coordinator will assess and implement standardized construction-related systems, templates, and tools to strengthen internal coordination, reduce delays, and build our long-term capacity to support affordable housing delivery. To strengthen cross-department communication, the VISTA will also facilitate regular information-sharing processes between construction, development, family services, and finance teams by creating reporting templates and shared resource folders. They will develop a Construction Systems & Procedures Manual and a Cross-Department Communication Guide to document workflows and train staff on new systems.
