Your day at Americold
Picture this: you clock in, grab your RF scanner, and head to the docks. Trailers are backed in, and you’re the pro who keeps everything moving. You’ll navigate stand-up and sit-down forklifts, reach and straddle trucks, walk-behinds, and single/double pallet jacks to receive, put away, pick, and ship food products with precision. Safety and accuracy are your north star, and you keep pace with production goals while maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
What you’ll tackle
- Load, unload, and move freight safely to designated locations across the facility using the right equipment for the job.
- Stack, store, and retrieve product; assemble orders; verify counts and inspect for damage or infestation; label, sort, wrap, pack, and repack as directed.
- Operate forklifts, straddle trucks, walk-behinds, pallet jacks, double jacks, and RF devices in compliance with OSHA standards.
- Meet or exceed productivity targets while keeping your area clean and orderly.
- Pitch in as needed with inventory counts, cleaning, and forklift battery changes—plus other duties outside normal responsibilities when required.
What you bring
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 3 months of related warehouse or material handling experience preferred.
- Sharp attention to detail, a commitment to meeting deadlines, and the ability to work independently.
- Reliability: on time to your assigned shift and ready to work; available for overtime, evenings, or weekends as scheduled.
Physical demands and environment
- Work in cold storage with controlled temperatures down to –15°F and in outside ambient conditions (heat, cold, precipitation).
- Tolerate heights up to 30 ft. (accessing elevated product from inside a safety cage).
- Operate comfortably in spaces with 55 inches of headroom.
- Stand for up to 5 hours during an 8-hour shift.
- Transfer boxes up to 70 lbs. and carry product at least 6 ft. without mechanical assistance.
