What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver/Activity Assistant for Senior Day Program Mandarin Speaking position at Americana Adult Day Center?
Americana Adult Day Center is a community based adult day program that offers meals, activities and health monitoring to improve the quality of life of our participants.
The duties of a Mandarin speaking driver/activity assistant include performing services/assigned tasks that include but are not limited to:
1. Drive center vehicle to transport elderly participants to and from the center, as scheduled by the center's transportation coordinators.
2. Responsible for the upkeep, service and maintenance of company vehicle.
3. Perform the role of activity assistant and facilitate, lead, and run activities according to the activity calendar and under the direction of the activity coordinator.
4. Support of, assistance and documentation of group activity and recreational programs.
5. Providing care services to participants as indicated in their plan of care within their scope of practice and as needed, under the supervision of the center RN and Program Director.
6. Assistance with physical and/or occupational therapy maintenance therapy services when needed, as indicated in their plan of care, when trained by the physical and/or occupational therapist, and documenting all services provided on the same day these services are provided.
7. Arrange appointments for participants outside the center if necessary.
8. Assisting with food service during meals and bringing food to the participants as needed.
9. The activity assistant will perform other duties as required by the Administrator, Program Director, and Activity Coordinator.
10. Knowledge of ADHC/CBAS laws, regulations, CBAS certification standards, standards of participation, and policies and procedures. This will be ensured through ongoing staff training and education.
Working hours are:
Monday to Friday 6:30 am to 1:30 pm or 11:30 am to 5:30 pm
Saturday 7 am to 1 pm
Qualifications:
A program aide is:
1. 18 years of age or older.
2. A high school or college graduate.
3. Holds a clean and valid driver's license.
4. Willing to and capable of performing the tasks assigned to them by their immediate supervisor(s) and/or the center Program Director.
5. Possess a cheerful and outgoing personality and able to motivate and lead elderly participants in games and activities.
6. Demonstrating competence in helping others by producing a work history and/or references, which can verify this competence.
7. Qualified by education, training, and/or experience to meet the needs of the program and perform the duties assigned.
8. Demonstrate the ability to perform the task assigned successfully.
9. Able to lift up to 50 lbs and physically capable of performing the required duties and assisting frail elderly and disabled adults, as necessary.
10. Bi-lingual in Mandarin and English is a must.
10. The program aide will provide the center with a health examination, signed by a physician, and a TB clearance, which is not more than 12 months prior to employment or within 7 days of employment and shall provide the center a current certificate of CPR and First Aid training.
