American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a leading manufacturer of consumer and industrial wood-fiber products serving retail, pet, agricultural, and industrial markets throughout North America. We are currently seeking a candidate for the Accountant II role at our Pella, IA or Schofield,WI facility . This position reports to the CFO/Vice President of Finance and supports multi-site accounting operations and financial reporting.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Accountant II performs professional-level accounting work requiring independent judgment, technical knowledge, and analytical ability. This role supports financial reporting, reconciliations, compliance, and operational analysis while assisting accounting leadership and site teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare account reconciliations, financial reports, and analyses.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Review financial results and identify variances.
- Research and resolve discrepancies.
- Support plant accounting teams with guidance.
- Assist with audits.
- Help monitor cash activity and collections.
- Provide backup support for payroll.
- Participate in special projects.
- Assist with process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Effective communication skills.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 2-4 years of accounting experience.
- Knowledge of GAAP.
- Manufacturing or multi-entity experience preferred.
- CPA or progress toward certification a plus.
