Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position at an acute care hospital in Spruce Pine, NC, requiring telemetry experience and a valid NC or compact RN license.
Details
- Day shift position with hours from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Acute care PCU unit located on the 2nd floor of the main hospital building
- 25-bed inpatient unit with capacity for up to 27 patients including ED holds
- Patient population includes acute care and PCU-level cases requiring telemetry and continuous O2 monitoring
- Equipment used includes BiPAP, Vapotherm, patient lifts, Baxter pumps, and telemetry/continuous O2 monitors
- EMR system is Cerner
- Day shift staffing includes a charge nurse, 4–5 RNs, and 2–3 PCTs/HUC
- Rotating weekends required with scheduling flexibility
- Floating to the ED may be required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a PCU or acute care setting
- Telemetry experience is required
- ICU experience is preferred
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Wound care is among the typical procedures performed on this unit
- Team-oriented candidates with strong communication skills are the best fit for this unit
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date; AHA or ARC certifications are accepted
