Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring NC or compact RN license and a minimum of 5 years of OR experience.
Details
- Operating Room department in a Level 3 Trauma hospital with 19 OR suites (17 blocked rooms)
- Unit designated as Bariatric Center of Excellence with Advanced Spine Surgery Certification
- Averages 50 surgical cases per day
- Surgical specialties include trauma, ortho trauma, ortho total joints, spine, hearts, MI vascular, GYN, GYN-Oncology, robotics, general, HPB, bariatrics, urology, ENT, eyes, pain, and plastics
- 12-hour day shift schedule (7a-7p), 36 hours per week
- Required to work every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Weekend rotation of every 4th weekend, which may include a scheduled shift or call coverage
- Call requirement averages 6 call shifts per 6-week schedule with a 45-minute response time
- Call shifts may fall 11p-7a or 7a-7p/7p-7a on weekends
- No floating required
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- CNOR certification preferred but not required
- Minimum of 5 years of OR nursing experience required
- Experience circulating in trauma, ortho trauma, ortho total joints, spine, hearts, MI vascular, GYN, GYN-Oncology, robotics, general, HPB, bariatrics, urology, ENT, eyes, pain, and plastics cases required
- Minimum 12 months of core OR experience within the last year required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

- Provide circulating RN support across a wide range of surgical specialties
- Supported by Service Line Clinical Supervisors, Charge Nurses, Educators, ORAs, Unit Secretaries, and Tech Engineers
- Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Scrubs provided by facility

- Expected to work 75% of holidays
- RTO subject to manager approval
- Schedule cycles on a 6-week basis
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles outside the home unit to qualify for the travel position
- Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
