Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med/Surg position in Alexandria, LA, with a focus on post-surgical and neuro patient populations.
Details
- Acute Med/Surg unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes post-surgical patients (orthopedics, general surgery) and neuro populations
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1 to 6:1 depending on staffing
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Weekends may be required based on scheduling needs
- No on-call requirements
- Floating to other units is a possibility
- Epic EMR experience is a bonus but not required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license in Louisiana or a Compact state currently in hand
- Current BLS certification from the AHA required
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience
- US Social Security Number required for consideration
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Current primary source license verification (Nursys) required for consideration
- Copies of all active certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provides routine and complex nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Administers medications and treatments per protocol and monitors for side effects and effectiveness
- Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers
- Temp-to-perm conversion is a possibility
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
- BSN is preferred but not required
