Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night shift position at a large hospital in Portland, ME, with IMC-level care experience and telemetry skills required.
Details
- Work on a 43-bed Medical Telemetry/IMC unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes respiratory, medical telemetry, some surgical, sepsis, DKA, altered mental status, failure to thrive, respiratory failure, and acute-on-chronic medical conditions
- Patient ratios: Day shift Med/Surg 1:4-5, Night shift Med/Surg 1:5-6, Day and Night IMC 3:1
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Equipment includes ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, nasal cannula, non-rebreather masks, epidural pumps, IV pumps, specialty beds, PCA pumps, VAC dressings, and trach care supplies
- EMR: Epic
- Floating required — IMC RNs may float to another IMC-level unit or to Med/Surg as needed; Med/Surg RNs may float to similar-level units based on unit need and skill
- No on-call requirements
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active ME RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1-2 years of RN experience required
- IMC RNs must have ventilator experience
- All candidates must have tracheostomy experience and the ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Driver's License required for consideration
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- 2 professional references required for consideration
Additional Information
- Specialty is Medical Telemetry with an IMC component — candidates should be comfortable with both levels of care
- Mandatory MMC onboarding education modules required upon start
- Use of AirPods, laptops, and personal cell phones on the unit is prohibited
- Professional scrubs required; shirts with non-hospital logos are not acceptable
- Candidates residing within 90 miles of any MaineHealth facility (in Maine or New Hampshire) are considered local and are subject to a reduced bill rate
- Local travelers are not eligible for contract renewals or extensions
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
- Candidates who have worked at any MaineHealth facility within the past 12 months should disclose this during the consideration process
- A 25-mile float policy between facilities may apply as needed
