Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry (IMC) night shift position in Portland, ME, requiring telemetry strip interpretation and tracheostomy experience.
Details
- Work is performed on a 43-bed Medical Telemetry/IMC unit (Bean 5) within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes respiratory, medical telemetry, surgical, sepsis, DKA, altered mental status, failure to thrive, respiratory failure, and acute-on-chronic medical conditions
- Patient ratios: Day Shift Med/Surg 1:4–5, Night Shift Med/Surg 1:5–6, IMC (day and night) 1:3
- Equipment used includes ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, nasal cannula, non-rebreather masks, epidural pumps, IV pumps, PCA pumps, VAC dressings, specialty beds, and trach care supplies
- EMR: Epic
- Night shift hours: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- No on-call requirements
- Floating is required — IMC RNs may float to other IMC-level units or to Med/Surg as needed; Med/Surg RNs may float to similar Med/Surg units based on unit need, skill, and nursing demands
- Float policy allows floating between facilities within a 25-mile radius as needed
Requirements
- Active RN license for Maine (ME) or a Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1–2 years of RN experience required
- IMC-level RNs must have ventilator experience
- All RNs must have experience with tracheostomy care and the ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Driver's License required for consideration
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- 2 professional references required for consideration
Additional Information
- 13-week contract
- Mandatory onboarding education modules must be completed as part of orientation
- Candidates who reside within 90 miles of any MaineHealth facility (including residents of Maine or New Hampshire) are considered local and subject to a different bill rate tier; local travelers are not eligible for renewals or extensions
- Candidates who have worked at any MaineHealth facility within the past 12 months should disclose this history
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
- Personal use of AirPods, laptops, and cell phones on the unit is prohibited
- Professional attire required; unprofessional clothing and shirts with non-hospital logos are not permitted
