Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Orthopedic RN for a night shift position requiring at least 1 year of ortho experience and a State or Compact RN license.
Details
- Work on a dedicated Orthopedic unit within a hospital setting
- Unit has 10 rooms/beds with a 1:5 patient ratio
- Care for patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries or injuries, including ortho trauma and total joint replacement cases
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM)
- Epic charting system experience preferred
Requirements
- Active State or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of Orthopedic nursing experience required
- Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draws, and peripheral line care
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response/code team protocols
- Experience with feeding tube care, colostomy/ileostomy management, and surgical drain care
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
- Experience with non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and oxygen administration
- Peripheral nerve block catheter experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Information
- Deliver specialized nursing care to patients with musculoskeletal issues, including post-surgical recovery and chronic condition management
- Provide patient and family education on orthopedic care and prevention
- Respond to life-threatening situations with appropriate nursing interventions
- Prioritize, delegate, and coordinate care while communicating with providers and leadership
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; local candidates within this radius will not be accepted
- Previous staff members must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
