Description
American Traveler is hiring an Interim Physical Therapy Manager for a hospital-based inpatient and outpatient PT clinic in a remote Alaska setting, requiring an active AK PT license and a minimum of 4 years of patient care experience.
Details
- Hospital-based inpatient and outpatient physical therapy clinic setting
- Standard PT department equipment in use, including hi-lo tables, therapeutic exercise equipment, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation modalities
- Village-based field clinic work may require travel via small, non-pressurized aircraft with therapist-supplied equipment (theraband, ultrasound, etc.)
- Orthopedic specialty field clinic coordination is part of the role, including screening and prioritizing referrals
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule
- 26-week contract
Requirements
- Active Alaska PT license in good standing required
- Active AK RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited Physical Therapy program required
- Minimum 4 years of active, full-time patient care experience required
- Previous managerial or leadership experience preferred
- Proficiency with MS Office tools including Excel and PowerPoint required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively across cultural and language differences
- DOB and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Manages department operations including revenue optimization, expense management, compliance, audits, and reporting
- Provides direct patient care as needed, including skilled PT evaluations and treatment plan development
- Supports interdisciplinary team functions and promotes staff professional development
- Collaborates with corporate teams to build and improve administrative processes
- Orientation is held on Tuesday and Wednesday
- Hospital housing is provided in a remote area; shared units with private bedrooms and shared common spaces — male or female units only, no dogs allowed; travelers coordinate housing directly with the facility
- Airfare to and from the assignment is reimbursed at economy level; detailed flight and luggage receipts must be submitted for reimbursement
- Flight itinerary must be provided one week prior to start date; the facility will assist with airport pickup upon arrival but does not provide return airport transportation
- Competency documentation must be provided upon arrival, including: IV/Central Line Site Care, Fall Precautions, Age-Specific Competencies, Abuse/Neglect, Pain Management, Restraints and Seclusion, End of Life, Blood Transfusions, and current BLS
- A medication calculation math test (adult and pediatric) is required upon arrival before beginning patient care
