Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position at a Critical Access Magnet hospital in Jacksonville, IL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and an active IL RN license.
Details
- Small, 4-bed ICU unit within a 25-bed Critical Access, Magnet-designated hospital
- 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio on all shifts
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (1900–0730)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required of all travelers
- No on-call requirements
- Charting via Cerner (experience preferred)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
- Current AHA or Red Cross certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — RQI AHA cards not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of ICU/CCU experience required
- Cardiac monitoring skills: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multi-system organ failure, 12-lead EKG acquisition
- IV therapy skills: arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, IV starts
- Medication management skills: continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, IV insulin protocols
- Respiratory/thoracic skills: BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, ventilated patient care, HFNC, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, ventilator management
- Experience with chronic and acute renal failure required
- Proficiency in infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, and surgical wound/wound vac care
- SSN and DOB required for consideration

- Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been away for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO of up to 5 days is generally accommodable; requests beyond that require facility approval
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Scrubs: any solid color
