Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRT) with 2 years of experience for a night shift position providing adult critical care and emergency department respiratory support.
Details
- Hospital-based Respiratory Therapy role within adult critical care and emergency department settings
- Patient population is predominantly adults
- Predominantly night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:45-7:15) with occasional day shifts as needed
- Weekend coverage required every other weekend
- No call-in required
- Performs ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and SIMV
- Performs airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning
- Administers medications via nebulizer, MDI, and aerosol setups
- Performs arterial blood gas draws and interpretation
- Provides tracheostomy care and management
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- RRT or CRT certification required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA certifications only)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty required
- Louisiana State License or Compact License required, license must be in hand at time of submission
- License required if applicable
- Epic charting experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- NURSYS report required with profile, must be updated within 4 weeks of submission
Additional Information
- Provides respiratory care and neuro diagnostics support to adult patients in critical care and emergency settings
- May be assigned to an Emergency Team during facility emergency events and required to remain onsite or serve as part of a relief team until the event concludes
- Orientation is held five days a week
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible, as local candidates are not accepted
- RTO must be documented on profile and discussed during interview to avoid offer being rescinded
- Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a full year separation from the facility before returning as a travel employee
- Two Manager/Supervisor references required prior to start (Charge RNs not accepted); references not required for initial submission
