Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a hospital in Elizabethtown, KY, performing a full range of critical care, general respiratory, and diagnostic procedures.

- Hospital-based respiratory therapy department with direct patient care
- Night shift, 6p–6a, 12-hour shifts
- 36 hours per week, 3 days per week
- 13-week contract
- Patient population includes adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients requiring respiratory support
- Performs invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
- Performs medicated therapy (small volume nebulizer, metered dose inhaler) and non-medicated therapy (chest physiotherapy, oscillating PEP, PEP)
- Performs arterial and capillary blood gas sampling and analysis
- Performs pulmonary function testing, oximetry studies, 12-lead ECG, Holter monitoring, and EEG (neurodiagnostic) procedures
- Performs airway management including care of endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes
- Assists with advanced specialty procedures such as endotracheal tube insertion, arterial line placement, and bronchoscopy
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Respiratory Care required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- RRT credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required
- Active Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care certification or Indiana Professional Licensing Agency respiratory license required (license required if applicable)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (PALS may be waived for PFT-only candidates at hiring manager's discretion)
- NRP required for candidates working with neonatal population (may be waived for PFT-only candidates at hiring manager's discretion)
- No minimum years of experience required
- MM/DD of date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responds to emergency situations including code blue and rapid response events throughout the facility
- Provides respiratory support in high-risk delivery situations, including care of the compromised newborn
- Completes patient assessments and communicates findings and recommendations to providers and care team
- Provides patient and family education on respiratory therapy, disease management, and medications
- Documents patient assessments, therapy, and pertinent clinical information in the medical record
- Participates in quality improvement projects, departmental meetings, huddles, and in-services
- Responsible for cleaning, preparing, and ensuring proper functioning of respiratory equipment and departmental analyzers
