American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level IV NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring RRT certification and at least 1 year of NICU/PICU experience.

• Work in a Level IV NICU within a children's hospital setting
• Neonatal and pediatric patient population with preferred PICU cardiac experience
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
• Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation required
• Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though preferred schedules are not guaranteed
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed

• Minimum 1 year of NICU and PICU experience required
• Level 4 NICU experience required
• Preferred PICU cardiac experience
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Required certifications: RRT, BLS, NRP
• PALS preferred
• ACCS preferred
• VA state license required; license required if applicable, pending licenses accepted if another state license is held and temporary license obtained before start
• Epic experience required for SRO Float Pool and Inpatient Units
• Experience with neonatal/pediatric respiratory equipment including CPAP, high frequency jet ventilator, oscillating ventilator, and nitric oxide therapy
• Skilled in airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
• Experience in interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
• Two professional references required

• Provide respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients including high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports
• Administer medications via aerosol, MDI, and nebulizer delivery systems
• Care for patients with conditions such as ARDS, cystic fibrosis, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and respiratory distress syndrome
• Assist with bronchoscopy and fresh tracheostomy care
• Work as part of a pediatric critical care team
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed prior to submission
• Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed in advance
• No radius rule for this position
• Local candidates accepted
• Previous UVA employees must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval to return as travelers
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
• First-time travelers will be considered
