American Traveler is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 13-week night shift travel assignment at a Level III Trauma acute care hospital, covering adult, NICU, and pediatric patients.
Details- Acute care hospital setting with a Level III Trauma designation
- Respiratory Therapy department covering inpatient floors and the ER
- Patient population spans NICU through geriatrics, including ICU, step-down, med/surg, a small peds unit, and a Level III NICU
- No more than 30 treatments per shift, with workload distributed by floor rather than a point system
- Procedures include ABG draws and analysis, breathing treatments, BiPAP, CPAP, mechanical ventilation, and potential assistance with bedside bronchoscopy and intubation (including LMA placement)
- RT equipment includes Dräger vents, Cervo NICU vent, Hamilton transport vent, Vapotherm, and Philips V60 and V30
- Charting via Epic
- 12-hour night shifts, 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- First to float; floating assignments include ICU, general floors, NICU, and ER
- Self-scheduling available; block scheduling is not permitted
- Mandatory attendance at one department meeting per month
- Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience required
- NICU experience required
- Active CRT or RRT credential via NBRC required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
- STABLE and NRP certifications required for candidates covering NICU or handling neonatal patients
- All certifications must be active; pending certifications are not accepted
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- License required if applicable — must be active; pending state licensure will not be accepted
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Responsibilities include managing a floor-based patient assignment across multiple care areas, performing respiratory assessments, and operating a variety of ventilatory support devices
- A team lead or charge therapist is always present on shift; travelers may be asked to serve as charge depending on experience and willingness
- Travelers will never be the only RT on shift
- Orientation is approximately one week, adjusted based on individual experience
- Hunter green scrubs are required and are not provided by the facility
- Former permanent employees of this facility must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
