American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Stepdown) position requiring at least 2 years of experience, night shift availability, and active IA or compact RN licensure.

• Acute care stepdown/PCU unit in a Level 3 trauma hospital setting
• 22-bed unit serving patients with cardiac and respiratory diagnoses including heart failure, AFib, respiratory distress, and stroke
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, with patient care techs available at a 1:10 ratio
• RNs are required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips
• RNs are required to titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitro
• CPAP management is part of the RN scope on this unit; RNs are not required to manage vents
• Charge nurse is present each shift and takes a full patient assignment
• 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM–7:00 AM or 6:30 AM–7:00 PM, on a cyclic scheduling model
• Every other weekend required
• One major and one minor holiday required
• Float to ICU may be required for candidates with appropriate experience
• Charting is done in Epic

• Active IA or compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses will not be accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; pending certifications will not be accepted
• Stepdown or PCU nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility; a valid driver's license is used to verify permanent address
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

• Candidates who have been directly employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• RNs must pass an open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation; failure to pass results in contract termination
• Department-specific orientation consists of one 12-hour shift on the unit
• All requested time off must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply will result to contract termination
• This is a fast-paced unit with high admit and discharge volume; teamwork, a positive attitude, and patient-centered care are key to success on this unit
