American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN with neurosurgery and Level 1 trauma experience for a 13-week day shift travel contract at a major academic medical center in Portland, ME.
Details- Operating Room setting at a Level 1 Trauma Center with a 26-bed OR suite
- Neurosurgery-focused role requiring competency in circulating aneurysms, AVMs, complex craniotomies with navigation, and complex spine navigated cases using Airo-CT and O-arm
- Preferred experience in General, GU/GYN, Ortho trauma, ortho joints, ENT, Pediatrics, Plastics, Dental, and Endovascular cases
- 1:1 patient ratio
- Equipment includes Storz, Stryker, Olympus, and Intuitive Robotic (da Vinci) systems
- EMR: Epic
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 12-hour shifts
- 1:4 weekend rotation required
- On-call requirements include one overnight trauma call (11 PM–7 AM); specialty team call (Neuro, Cardiac, Thoracic, Vascular, Ortho) is scheduled per specialty team rules — Neuro call averages 50–150 hours per 8-week block
- 13-week contract
- Active ME RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required
- CNOR preferred
- Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience required
- Level 1 trauma center experience required
- Robotics experience required
- Neurosurgery OR experience required, including aneurysms, AVMs, craniotomies, and navigated spine cases
- Driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Teal scrubs are issued by the facility
- Candidates residing within 90 miles of any MaineHealth facility (including residents of Maine or New Hampshire) are considered local and subject to a different pay rate
- Local travelers are not eligible for contract renewals or extensions
- Float policy: candidates may be required to float between facilities within a 25-mile radius as needed
- Use of AirPods, laptops, and cell phones on the unit is prohibited
- Candidates who have worked at any MaineHealth facility within the past 12 months should be disclosed during the consideration process
- Travel pairs or groups are not permitted for this position
