Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel LPN for a Behavioral Health unit, requiring 1 year of experience, BLS certification, and a WV or compact nursing license.
Details
- Behavioral Health/Psychiatric inpatient unit serving an adult patient population
- Cases include anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders, depressive disorders, psychotic disorders, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, substance use, suicidal behavior, and trauma- and stressor-related disorders
- Patient ratio of 1:20
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30), weekdays with every other weekend required
- EMR: Avatar (charting system experience required)
- 13-week contract with possibility of extension
Requirements
- Current WV or compact LPN/LVN license required; pending license acceptable
- Minimum 1 year of LPN experience required
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- CPI and First Aid certifications required (may be obtained during orientation)
- Experience with behavioral health/psychiatric patient population preferred
- Skills in medication administration (oral, IM, SQ, subcutaneous) and blood glucose monitoring
- Experience with physical hold protocols and seclusion protocols/procedures preferred
- SSN, DOB, and driver's license required for consideration
- Minimum 3 manager or charge references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Fingerprinting must be completed in West Virginia at least 7–10 business days prior to start — this is a WV state requirement with no exceptions
- License required if applicable

- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Local candidates are accepted
- Prior permanent employees of this facility are not eligible to return as travelers; travelers may work contracts for up to 1 year total
- Holiday RTO requests are limited to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays; block scheduling requests cannot be accommodated
- Orientation is held on Mondays from 8:30am–4:30pm; candidates must complete all online modules (approximately 8 hours) prior to arriving at orientation or they will be turned away — no exceptions
- An Authorization and Release Form (DHHR Release Form) must be printed, hand-signed in blue ink, and returned within 48 hours of contract signing; DHHR background search results are required before module access is granted
- At-home orientation modules include an exam for each section with 2 attempts allowed
- Navy or royal blue scrubs are provided by the facility
- Flu vaccination record and CPR card must be brought to orientation
- Candidates with prior probationary actions on their license will be considered on a case-by-case basis
