General Summary:
The Capacity Planner supports manufacturing by aligning production schedules with the true capabilities of each work center. The role ensures that labor, equipment, and material resources are effectively planned, burden rates are maintained, and capacity constraints are identified and resolved. By managing work center performance and scheduling the Capacity Planner will maximize efficiencies, throughput, and on-time delivery.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintains the master schedule with a focus on work center capacity and utilization, ensuring production requirements align with available labor and equipment.
- Revise master schedule as needed and communicates changes or delays to the appropriate departments.
- Develops and updates capacity plans for each work center, identifies bottlenecks, underutilization, over capacity, and recommends corrective actions.
- Provides accurate quoting times by reviewing work center loads, setup times, run rates, and labor availability to ensure realistic and achievable lead times.
- Maintains burden rates tied to work center costs, including labor, overhead, and equipment usage to support accurate quoting and financial analysis.
- Monitors raw material and WIP inventory levels to ensure work centers have what they need to operate without interruption.
- Collaborates with leadership, supervisors, and manufacturing to prioritize work center schedules and adjust resources as needed to meet production commitments.
- Tracks and reports on work center performance metrics, including throughput efficiency, and adherence to schedule.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvement within work centers to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve flow.
- Updates and communicates schedule changes to supervisors, leads, and other stakeholders to minimize disruption and keep work centers on track.
- Participates in planning meetings with leadership, supervisors, manufacturing, and purchasing to ensure alignment of capacity, materials, and production goals.
- Performs other related duties, as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong understanding of work center scheduling, capacity management, and manufacturing processes.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Thorough understanding of the business and supply chain.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Extremely proficient with excel (Pivot tables, formulas, modeling, and data analysis), and ERP systems.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelors’ degree in related field
· At least 5 years of experience in scheduling, capacity planning, or a related manufacturing support role. (defense industry preferred)
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time salary position ranging between 40 - 50 hours per week based on workload. Regular work week is Monday through Friday. Saturdays and Sundays are scheduled based on workload of the shop.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
