The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing core accounting, cost accounting, accounts receivable, cash management, and compliance functions. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting operational decision-making, and maintaining strong internal controls in a manufacturing environment. The position works closely with the CFO and cross-functional teams to support month-end close, financial analysis, and continuous process improvement.
General Accounting
- Perform assigned daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting activities accurately and on schedule.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including recurring accruals.
- Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and applicable laws.
- Lead and support quarterly and year-end close activities, including special accounting projects.
Cost Accounting & Job Costing
- Perform gross margin analysis related to products, inventory, and overall company performance.
- Conduct detailed job cost analysis, including materials, labor, and overhead/burden.
- Review and correct labor, material, and quantity discrepancies to properly close jobs.
- Analyze job costing data to support pricing strategy, forecasting, and operational planning.
- Perform inventory reconciliations and provide related analysis (e.g., Swans/Uglies reporting).
Accounts Receivable, Collections & Credit
- Monitor customer accounts and identify delinquent balances.
- Manage collection activities, including resolution of overdue balances and recovery of outstanding payments.
- Prepare, post, and verify customer payments and AR transactions.
- Evaluate customer creditworthiness and recommend credit approvals, denials, and credit limits.
- Maintain professional communication with customers regarding account status and payment terms.
Cash Management & Banking
- Oversee company cash flow, including cash balances, loans, disbursements, and investments.
- Review projected cash positions and proactively address variances.
- Reconcile bank statements and related balance sheet accounts.
- Administer banking transactions, including ACH activity for customers and suppliers.
- Process bank deposits and ACH transactions.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Complete and maintain the Accounting Period-End Checklist.
- Prepare and distribute management reports, including daily reports, labor correction reporting, earned hours, and weekly efficiency metrics.
- Assist with monthly financial review meetings and executive reporting.
- Manage fixed asset tracking and reconciliation.
- Maintain documentation to support ISO standards and internal compliance requirements.
- Support the CFO with year-end audit preparation and external audit documentation.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment required; metals machining industry experience strongly preferred.
Salary : $85,000 - $100,000
