The Business Development Specialist is responsible for promoting and selling the company’s full range of environmental response and industrial services, including accident cleanup, hazardous waste management, tank cleaning, and preventative maintenance projects including disaster response and rental equipment. This role focuses on building and maintaining client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and working closely with operations and response teams to ensure customer needs are met with safe, compliant, and cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers across transportation, industrial, and commercial sectors.
  • Promote and sell environmental services, including spill response, tank cleaning, confined space entry work, industrial cleaning, and waste disposal.
  • Identify new business opportunities, generate leads, and expand the customer base within assigned territories.
  • Conduct site visits and customer meetings to assess service needs and present tailored solutions.
  • Collaborate with Environmental Response Regional Manager and Operations Manager and Technicians to ensure service delivery aligns with customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide customers with accurate proposals, quotes, and service agreements.
  • Stay informed on environmental regulations, industry trends, and competitor offerings to effectively position company services.
  • Attend trade shows, networking events, and industry meetings to promote the company brand.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, pipeline development, and customer communications in CRM systems.
  • This position must be able to travel within the assigned territory and occasionally on short notice to support customer needs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in Business, Environmental Science, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • 2–4 years of sales experience, preferably in environmental services, industrial services, transportation, or related industries.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets and grow revenue.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental services (spill response, hazardous waste handling, tank cleaning, industrial cleaning) preferred.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; ability to travel regularly within the assigned region.
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational and time-management skills.

Must have computer skills and knowledge of various software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) as well as job related and/or web-based software.

Work Environment

  • Frequent travel to customer locations, job sites, and industry events.
  • Work performed in both office and field environments, including industrial and accident response sites.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions and industrial environments while conducting site visits.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and drive for extended periods while traveling.
  • Occasional walking in industrial facilities, construction zones, or spill sites during site visits.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE when visiting active job sites (safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toe boots, etc.).
