What are the responsibilities and job description for the PLC and Controls Technician position at American Rheinmetall?
Job Summary:
Utilizes knowledge of PLCs and controls hardware to assist in day-to-day issue resolution and create solutions to larger more complex problems.
Essential Functions:
- Work cross functionally with production and engineering departments to ensure goals & objectives are met.
- Develop timelines and prioritizes workload to meet schedule needs.
- Assist craftsmen with troubleshooting machines.
- Create and implement solutions to recurring issues.
- Report project status and action items to management on scheduled basis
- Research and purchase required outside materials when needed.
- Perform studies and coordinate process improvements
- Keep PLC programs and schematics up to date.
- Participate in cost savings projects
- Implement new tooling/fixture/machine concepts to reduce product cost
- Assist engineering department with all data management, engineering changes, and all other related engineering documentation when needed.
- Assist with customer activities/support as requested
- Expert knowledge or PLC & controls hardware and software.

Education & Experience
- Associate degree (A. S.) in an industrial PLC & controls discipline or other technical discipline or applicable years of experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Background Prerequisites
Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, physical, and controlled substance testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using SolidWorks or similar CAD software is highly desired.
