We are a financial advisory practice located in Denver Tech Center. Our team is cohesive, collegial, fast paced and professional. Together, we provide our clients with an extraordinarily high level of service.

As a member of the Wealth Management team the Paraplanner role makes a significant contribution to an advisory practice by providing comprehensive technical support for the financial planning process. It leverages the Financial Planner’s time by providing research and accurate data for financial plans and reviews. Responsibilities defined below vary from client to client.

Summary of Essential Duties:

The Paraplanner is responsible for providing a high level of customer service support and assisting in gathering, reviewing and analyzing data and preparing financial plans for clients. You will be expected to assist in various aspects of client service, including data entry, responding to client requests, reconciling portfolio management software, trading, quarterly reporting, and financial plan and investment policy statement preparation. Mentoring and big-picture direction will be provided, but you must have the ability to utilize critical-thinking skills, work independently and anticipate firm needs and client questions.

The paraplanner will consistently follow high standards of business and professional ethics when dealing with others and/or performing work activities. Paraplanners are also required to follow legal and regulatory requirements and company policies in dealing with others and/or performing work activities.

Experience in the financial industry and current FINRA licenses are desirable. The right non-licensed candidate will be considered, with a requirement to attain licenses within six months of employment.

Financial Planning Activities (65%):

  • Prepare for initial client interview by gathering materials needed
  • Interview clients or prospects to gather information needed; background and financial information
  • Record information on forms or worksheets
  • Document client meetings and calls
  • Verify that forms, applications, documents or other materials are accurate and complete
  • Interface with client’s/prospect’s other advisors such as attorneys and CPAs
  • Enter data, using applicable software, into computer
  • Examine data or initial schedules for accuracy and completeness
  • Review and interpret financial statements
  • Perform numerical calculations
  • Prepare preliminary recommendations for Financial Advisory Proposals (FAP) and Asset Allocations (AA)
  • Review and edit them for organization
  • Run hypothetical illustrations
  • Prepare charts, graphs, tables and other visual aids to be used in implementation meetings with clients
  • Contact clients or prospects to confirm or schedule follow-up appointments, gather any additional information needed, maintain contact during the financial planning process
  • Prepare correspondence and agreements for advisor/client signatures
  • Review and update client information as needed for client review meetings
  • Attend and participate in client meetings if necessary
  • Working with the custodial platforms, client relationship management software and portfolio management software.
  • Prepare client review documents
  • Perform periodic financial plan updates
  • Document client reviews and plan updates
  • Assist in resolving action items from client reviews
  • Make regular and proactive calls to clients to remind them of upcoming deadlines

Customer Service Activities (30%):

  • Manage client relationships and contacts including incoming and outgoing communications (telephone, email and faxes)
  • Generate client communications including: e-mails, correspondence, presentations, reports, and memos
  • Speak with clients daily to answer questions and respond to client service requests
  • Build and maintain client relationships by providing excellent service and ensuring that client expectations are exceeded on a daily basis
  • Business processing and follow through
  • General office support (filing, copies, faxing, scheduling, etc.)

Marketing Activities (5%):

  • Handle unsolicited calls from prospects to schedule appointments or refer to advisor
  • Follow-up with prospects or clients & document calls
  • May answer questions regarding the financial planning process, but cannot make recommendations
  • Assist in maintaining firm website and social media presence

General Requirements:

  • BA or BS or equivalent experience (Finance, Accounting or Personal Financial Planning strongly preferred)
  • Strong desire to attain or retain CFP credential Background in financial management and investments preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. (Experience with Morningstar Advisor, MoneyGuidePro, Redtail CRM, and Charles Schwab Advisor Center platforms helpful)
