Programs Associate

APV is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Programs Associate to support the events program and broader organizational operations. Reporting to the Operations Director and working closely with senior staff across the team, this role executes from event direction while taking real ownership of the logistics and administrative work that keeps APV running. The Programs Associate is a visible, warm presence at our events and across our two offices, taking pride in running a tight operation and creating an excellent experience for every guest.

This is a strong opportunity for an early-career professional who wants direct exposure to senior APV leadership, Members of Congress, senior Hill staff, and the inner workings of a fast-growing organization.

What You’ll Do:

Events & Convenings (~60%)

  • Execute end-to-end logistics for APV's portfolio of convenings, taking concepts and anchor attendees from senior staff and carrying them through to execution
  • Support a busy slate of weekly breakfasts, happy hours, lunches, and policy briefs in APV's Capitol Hill space, occasional off-site events, and two annual off-site conferences
  • Run event invitations, RSVPs, and attendance tracking, partnering with senior staff to drive turnout
  • Serve as day-to-day point of contact for event vendors and outside organizations using APV's spaces
  • Provide on-site presence and support at events, welcoming Members of Congress, senior Hill staff, and other guests
  • Help refine and document the systems and templates that allow APV's convenings program to scale

Operations & Administration (~40%)

  • Support APV's accounts payable and financial operations, including invoice entry, vendor setup, and monthly close
  • Maintain organizational trackers for grants, contracts, and key institutional records
  • Manage day-to-day facilities and supplies across APV's two offices
  • Provide administrative support across teams, including scheduling, document preparation, and meeting logistics
  • Support preparation of briefing materials and follow-ups for external partner and funder meetings
  • Help maintain APV's internal systems, including CRM, contact tracking, and knowledge management

What We’re Looking For:
  • 1–3 years of professional experience, or a track record of ownership outside the workplace (events chair, budget lead, team captain, or similar)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A proactive, self-directed nature
  • Warmth and comfort in people-facing settings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative, low-ego spirit
  • Alignment with APV's mission and comfort operating across the political spectrum with professionalism and neutrality
  • Interest in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and no two weeks look the same
  • Experience with software platforms, including Notion, Ramp, Rippling, Paperless Post, Canva, and/or Slack, would be a bonus but is not a requirement

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Salary of $65,000–$75,000, based on experience
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Matching 401(k) contribution
  • Generous PTO policy and paid federal holidays
  • Direct exposure to senior APV leadership and meaningful opportunities for professional development and growth

Location:
  • Washington, DC, in office 4-5 days per week
  • This role regularly requires evening availability for hosting events
