We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our team. Job Summary:
 As a Billing Specialist, your responsibilities will include submitting accurate medical claims to the insurance companies, verify patient insurance coverage and be able to communicate with Attorney offices and the patient to acquire the accurate insurance information if needed.  2 years of medical billing experience required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and submit insurance claims for patient services provided in both clinical and surgical settings.
  • Verify accuracy of patient information, insurance details, and billing codes.
  • Process, review, and follow up on unpaid or denied claims, ensuring prompt resolution.
  • Manage and reconcile patient accounts, including co-payments, deductibles, and any patient responsibility amounts.
  • Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and staff regarding billing inquiries and claim statuses.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including HIPAA and payer-specific guidelines.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding standards, including CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS.
  • Collaborate with the practice management team to improve billing processes and ensure efficient workflows.
  • Assist in the development of reports for financial analysis, forecasting, and compliance.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and filing of all billing and coding records.
  • Stay current with practice management software and other technology tools relevant to the role.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or certification in medical billing and coding preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, preferably with Workers Compensation and No Fault Claims. 
  • Certifications/Licenses: Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    1. In-depth knowledge of medical billing practices, including CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
    2. Proficiency with EHR systems and practice management software.
    3. Ability to work independently and make decisions regarding billing and coding processes.
    4. Strong analytical skills to identify discrepancies and resolve billing issues.
    5. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    6. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance representatives, and internal staff.
    7. Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    8. Familiarity with managed care and various payer-specific billing requirements.

Compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience.
