About the Role
As an MRI Technologist, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare team by providing high-quality imaging services that assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Your expertise in medical imaging will ensure that accurate images are captured while prioritizing patient safety and comfort. You will be responsible for operating MRI equipment in our clinic at 1510 Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park, NY 11040. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Patient Care team to ensure images are easily accessible for physicians.
Key Responsibilities
Assess patient eligibility for MRI scans based on safety questionnaires
Perform orthopedic scans using the correct coils and positioning techniques
Efficiently conduct scans while minimizing repeats and patient recalls
Ensure accurate patient identification and produce high-quality images
Comply with OSHA and DHEC quality assurance mandates
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
Manage inventory and communicate supply shortages
Assist in the maintenance of MRI equipment and report issues promptly
Orient and train new hires, ensuring competency
Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure seamless patient experiences
Proactively identify and address potential issues to enhance the efficiency of the MRI Department
Maintain knowledge of the views for each individual physician’s protocols and notify the appropriate radiologist for any identified issues
Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations
Attend and complete all annual and mandatory training programs
Qualifications
High School diploma; completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program with MR registry or MR registered with a certified program
ARRT registration
DHEC/SCRQSA registration
At least two years of experience in radiologic films or completion of in-house MRI training program; orthopedic and/or MRI training preferred
Experience with the Siemens Espree 1.5T MRI System or similar
Excellent computer skills, including email, word processing, and practice management software
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work effectively as part of a clinical team
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
Bilingual skills a plus, as we serve a diverse patient population
Physical Qualifications
Position requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, as well as manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
Involves standing and walking
Occasionally may be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
Normal visual acuity and hearing required
Employee will work under stressful conditions and irregular hours
Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinical environment
