Join a fast-paced accounting team and play a key role at one of the West Coast’s leading steel service centers. The Senior Accountant supports the company’s financial health through accurate reporting, analysis, and process improvement. This position is instrumental in monthly close activities, financial statement preparation, reconciliations, and assisting with accounts payable. You’ll also contribute to key corporate initiatives such as automation projects and ERP system conversions that drive efficiency across our organization.
· Prepare and enter monthly journal entries with accuracy and timeliness.
· Verify that all journal entries are supported by proper documentation and reconciliations.
· Generate and analyze internal reports for management review.
· Prepare general ledger reconciliations, account analyses, and supporting schedules.
· Reconcile bank accounts and cash receipts, including deposits and postings.
· Review cost reconciliation reports to identify and resolve inventory costing or payable issues.
· Record and track daily transactions (banking, payroll, sales) to support monthly reporting.
· Manage and reconcile cash deposits, incoming wires, and credit card activity.
· Maintain and update fixed asset and lease schedules in sub-ledger systems.
· Ensure local tax filings (property, sales/use, etc.) are accurate and timely.
· Adhere to company policies, procedures, and internal control standards.
· Collaborate regularly with team members across departments and locations.
· Assist with weekly cash disbursements and check runs.
· Uphold company safety standards and protocols.
· Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required.
· 5 years of relevant accounting experience (public or corporate) preferred.
· Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to work with large data sets.
· Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
· Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
· Sound judgment and critical thinking in problem-solving and decision-making.
