The Assistant Director will be a core member of the AJC Miami and Broward Regional Office and will work to advance the organizational priorities of AJC in two key areas: cultivating and engaging young leadership (ACCESS) and outreach to Miami’s vibrant Latino community and Latin American consulates in consultation with AJC’s Belfer Institute for Latino and Latin American Affairs (BILLA).

Responsibilities include:
Latin Affairs Outreach:
- Supporting the ongoing development and cultivation of relations between AJC and South Florida Ibero-American leaders, representatives of the diplomatic corps, NGOs, Latino Jews and other leaders as appropriate through the development and implementation of programs and initiatives that strengthen these strategic partnerships and promote synergies.
- Developing common agendas between AJC and Latino leaders/institutions to advance AJC’s local, national, and hemispheric priorities.
- Establishing AJC as the authoritative voice in South Florida vis-a-vis Latino and Ibero-American media on AJC’s domestic hemispheric and global agendas.
- Working with the Regional Office Director and Development Director to help raise philanthropic support from members of the Latino Jewish community.
Young Leadership/ACCESS:
- Supporting, recruiting for, and facilitating AJC’s Leaders for Tomorrow (LFT) program for high school students in the Miami area.
- Bringing Miami Leaders for Tomorrow (LFT) students to AJC’s annual LFT Advocacy Day in Washington D.C.
- Identifying phenomenal Jewish young professionals, engaging them in ACCESS, and encouraging support for AJC’s mission through advocacy and financial support.
- Implementing ACCESS programs, meetings, and events in close coordination with ACCESS Global staff.
- In coordination with AJC’s Assistant Director of Campus Affairs, assist in engaging college students in the Miami area.
- Developing and expanding joint advocacy and diplomatic opportunities for young leaders with community partners, elected officials, and diplomats.
Qualifications:
- BA degree required; Masters preferred.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in Latin American and Latino affairs, preferably in South Florida.
- Fully bilingual (English/Spanish); Fluent in Hebrew and Portuguese a plus.
- Excellent public relations, written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills.
- Ability to work collegially with national, departmental, and regional staff, as well as lay leaders.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Experience with event planning, program implementation, logistics and communications.
- Excellent project management skills, ability to manage data and develop, implement, and oversee budgets.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work as part of a team of professionals and lay leaders.
