What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jeweler / Jeweler's Apprentice position at American Jewelry and Loan?
American Jewelry and Loan is Michigan's premier operator of pawnshops currently operating 5 locations in the Detroit Metro area including Pontiac, Hazel Park, Southgate, Lincoln Park and most notably Detroit, the home of hit TV show Hardcore Pawn.
We are growing and need to expand / develop our repair and custom jewelry business. We are looking for an experienced bench jeweler to work with with our current jeweler as we expand and develop the operation:
Duties:
- Use hand tools and power tools to shape, cut, and polish metals and gemstones
- Assemble jewelry pieces by soldering, welding, or using other techniques
- Repair damaged jewelry by replacing stones, re-sizing rings, and fixing clasps
- Create custom designs based on customer specifications
- Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Work directly with ownership and collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient production processes
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Jeweler or in a similar role
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for jewelry making
- Knowledge of different metals, gemstones, and their properties
- Strong attention to detail and precision
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $55.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
