Position Summary
American International College invites applications for the position of Head Field Hockey Coach. This is a full-time position responsible for all aspects of leading a competitive NCAA Division II field hockey program. The Head Coach will provide strong, ethical leadership in recruiting, coaching, program administration, and community engagement, while ensuring the academic success and personal development of all student-athletes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coaching & Program Leadership
- Plan, organize, and conduct all practices, games, and team activities throughout the academic year
- Develop and implement offensive and defensive strategies, game plans, and player development programs
- Provide individual and group instruction to improve technical skills, tactical knowledge, and athletic performance
- Evaluate player performance and provide ongoing feedback and mentorship
Recruiting
- Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who meet the academic and athletic standards of AIC
- Build and maintain a robust recruiting pipeline through scouting, campus visits, and relationship-building with high school and club coaches
- Manage the recruiting process in full compliance with NCAA Division II and NE10 Conference rules and regulations
Academic Oversight & Student-Athlete Development
- Monitor the academic progress of all student-athletes and collaborate with Director of Student Athlete Success to promote student success
- Foster a team culture that emphasizes character, leadership, community service, and personal accountability
- Support student-athletes in their holistic development beyond athletics
Program Administration
- Manage the program budget responsibly and within allocated resources
- Coordinate scheduling, travel arrangements, and all logistical aspects of the program
- Oversee the maintenance of equipment, uniforms, and facilities in coordination with the athletics department
- Prepare and submit required reports, rosters, and compliance documentation in a timely manner
Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with all NCAA Division II regulations, NE10 Conference bylaws, and AIC institutional policies
- Complete all required NCAA compliance training and education
- Promote a culture of integrity within the program
Community & Institutional Engagement
- Serve as a positive ambassador for AIC Athletics and the College community
- Engage with alumni, donors, and external constituents to build program support and visibility
- Participate in departmental meetings, campus events, and community outreach initiatives
- Assist with fundraising efforts and alumni relations as directed by the Athletics Director
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Demonstrated coaching experience at the collegiate, high school, or elite club level
- Strong knowledge of field hockey techniques, strategies, and player development
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated commitment to NCAA rules compliance and student-athlete welfare
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel for recruiting and competition
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Prior collegiate coaching experience (NCAA preferred)
- Proven track record in recruiting and retaining student-athletes
- Experience managing a program budget
- Established network within the field hockey community
Salary : $52,000 - $55,000
