Fire Alarm Technician Position
The function of this position is to provide reliable, high quality customer support through on-site inspecting, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing fire alarm equipment as well as conducting preventative maintenance services pertaining to many different manufacturers’ equipment.
This position has a salary range of up to $45 per hour depending on experience and held licenses.
Job Responsibilities
Installation and programming of fire protection alarm systems for commercial applications (including piping, valves, and accessories).
Document time worked as well as all paperwork relating to assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Must prepare accurate and timely documentation for work performed, complete monthly vehicle reports, and maintain truck inventory to ensure proper response to customers’ needs.
Must adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
Must communicate effectively - both verbally and in writing.
Must ensure positive customer experience.
Must have a strong work ethic.
Must be detail oriented.
Job Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED, Electronic trade school training is an asset
Journeyman's License, preferred
3 years of experience in the fire and life safety industry
FAL License
Gamewell/FCI Certification, preferred (or other manufacturer certifications)
Proven ability to independently diagnose and resolve system issues in the field
Strong working knowledge of fire alarm systems, devices, and installation practices
Ability to work independently as a senior technician with minimal supervision
Excellent communication skills with a professional, customer focused approach
Valid driver's license
Must be able to obtain and maintain all required state and/or local licenses
Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, background check and reference verification
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Ability to stand, walk, sit, twist, reach, push, pull, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
Use of hands and arms for handling, installing, and servicing equipment
Strong visual abilities including close, distance, peripheral, depth, and color vision
Comfortable working in challenging environments, including: Ladders, scaffolding, and lift equipment, tight or confined spaces (crawl spaces, attics, above ceilings) & around wiring, ductwork, and active construction environments
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Willingness to work a full-time, flexible schedule, including on-call rotations
Ability to travel on short notice as needed
Must be able to operate a motor vehicle for extended periods (day and evening travel)
