This is an entry level position. Must be mechanically inclined and have experience in management.
Job Summary
American Dedicated Rail Services (ADRS) is seeking motivated people to join our growing team in Waco, TX. This unique position offers the opportunity to learn railroading skills.
Successful candidates will be cross-trained and utilized in multiple railroad disciplines, providing greater career growth, skill development, and job diversity. Applicants with experience in either railcar mechanical work, train operations, or both are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
Car Cleaner
- Clean inside of rail cars as required by customer.
- Inspect and identify any potential issues.
Carman Duties (As Needed)
- Inspect, repair, and maintain freight railcars in accordance with FRA regulations and industry standards.
- Perform air brake inspections and testing.
- Replace and repair railcar components including couplers, draft gear, wheels, brake systems, and safety appliances.
- Complete required inspection and repair documentation.
- Maintain a safe and productive work environment.
- Utilize
Train Crew Duties (Cross Training to Conduct)
- Perform switching operations in industrial and yard environments.
- Safely couple and uncouple railcars.
- Conduct job briefings and comply with railroad operating rules.
- Assist with train movement operations and customer switching assignments.
- Operate locomotives when qualified and assigned.
- Communicate effectively with customers, dispatchers, and fellow crew members.
Qualifications
Preferred
- Some railroad experience in train operations, railcar repair, or related field.
- FRA-qualified Carman experience preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical railroad work.
- Willingness to travel between company locations as needed.
- Willingness to cross-train and perform multiple railroad functions.
