Member Engagement
Leads ACEP’s online communities, sections, and member interest groups to foster meaningful connection, engagement, and professional fulfillment across the membership. Using member feedback and participation data, the role helps shape programs and resources that support career satisfaction and well-being.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Online Community Strategy & Management
Leads the strategy, governance, and day‑to‑day management of ACEP’s online community platform (EngagED).
Develops and implements tactics to improve usability, participation, and value of online communities, leveraging features such as automation, digital badging, and engagement tools.
Plans and facilitates engagement activities—such as moderated discussions, virtual town halls, and fireside chats—to drive meaningful dialogue and peer connection.
Establishes and enforces community guidelines, moderation standards, and escalation protocols; oversees timely and effective moderation to ensure a positive member experience.
Monitors community and section activity for potential reputational, legal, or cultural risks and escalates issues appropriately.
Monitors and analyzes engagement data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
Partners with IT to manage the community platform, recommending and implementing system updates, policies, and enhancements based on best practices and new functionality.
Section and Member Interest Group Management
Leads the strategy and operational management of ACEP’s sections and member interest groups.
Develops and implements a comprehensive engagement strategy for ACEP sections and member interest groups.
Conducts regular assessments of section and interest group health, including participation, leadership capacity, outputs, and alignment with ACEP priorities.
Develops and maintains a section staffing and support model.
Supports section and interest group leaders and staff liaisons with annual work planning, leadership onboarding, succession planning, and effective use of online communities to drive year‑round engagement.
Serves as lead staff for assigned sections.
Collaborates with internal teams to integrate section initiatives into broader ACEP programs and meetings, reduce duplication, and elevate successful section‑led ideas.
Develops tools, playbooks, and templates to help section leaders and staff liaisons run effective, inclusive, and sustainable groups.
Career Fulfillment & Wellbeing
Gathers and analyzes community insights to identify systemic issues affecting physician career fulfillment and well-being, using findings to inform new programs, education, resources, and services.
Partners with internal experts and vetted external organizations to connect members to trusted guidance on practice essentials, contract literacy, financial and insurance planning, and risk management.
Manages ACEP’s Affinity Program in collaboration with Corporate Development, Marketing, and other internal teams to ensure relevance, quality, and member value.
Develops and supports programs that promote career fulfillment and physician wellbeing, including Peer-to-Peer program.
Assesses and manages the requirements, position, and retention impact of the FACEP program.
Supports the development and delivery of member recognition initiatives that acknowledge career milestones, volunteer service, and professional achievements.
Team Oversight & Leadership
Defines and tracks key engagement metrics across online communities, sections, and well-being initiatives; reports insights to leadership to guide decision‑making.
Supports the development and management of the annual membership engagement budget.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree with a major in healthcare, business, communication, or similar.
5-10 years of experience in a project/program management, community engagement, or membership organization role.
Demonstrated experience managing online communities or digital engagement platforms.
Organized, attentive to detail, highly self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Experience working with and motivating members and volunteers.
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Other Desired Qualifications
Familiarity with issues related to physician well-being, burnout, and career development.
Experience with association management systems (Altai preferred) and online community platforms (Forj preferred).
Experience working with physicians or healthcare professionals.
Comfort using engagement analytics and dashboards to inform strategy.
Certified Association Executive (CAE) preferred.
