Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, the Senior Director, Consumer Marketing Campaigns leads day-to-day strategy development, execution, and operational management of ACP’s high-impact consumer marketing campaign designed to strengthen public understanding of clean energy and elevate the industry’s visibility and relevance.
The Senior Director translates campaign narrative and audience insights into integrated marketing strategies that drive measurable engagement across digital, social, paid, earned, and partnership channels. Working closely with the Vice President, external agencies, and a steering committee of senior representatives from ACP member companies, the Senior Director helps ensure campaign priorities remain aligned, execution is disciplined, and outcomes support broader industry goals.
The role requires strong judgment, independent decision-making, and execution leadership in a highly visible environment. The Senior Director serves as ACP’s primary day-to-day lead across campaign planning, agency oversight, performance monitoring, and cross-functional coordination, helping build campaign infrastructure, maintain momentum, and guide strategic adjustments as the initiative evolves.

Campaign Strategy & Execution
We are a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and a staff that is highly motivated. This position may experience high-level work demands and independent decision-making under tight timelines. Occasional travel outside of the Washington, DC area for meetings or events may be required. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. ACP will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
We reasonably believe that the base salary range for this position is $155,000 – 185,000. At ACP, a wide range of factors are considered when making compensation decisions including and not limited to skill set, experience, training, education, knowledge, and other business and organizational needs. Campaign Strategy & Execution
- Lead development and execution of integrated consumer marketing strategies that advance ACP’s campaign goals, strengthen public understanding of clean energy, and position campaign efforts to reach priority audiences with measurable impact.
- Translate audience insights, research findings, and campaign priorities into clear annual and multi-phase campaign plans, including target audiences, message frameworks, channel strategy, and execution priorities.
- Guide day-to-day implementation of multi-channel campaign efforts across digital, social, paid, earned, and partnership platforms, ensuring execution remains aligned with strategic priorities, audience objectives, and campaign timelines.
- Help shape campaign infrastructure, timelines, and operating rhythms that support consistent execution and measurable progress across workstreams.
- Ensure campaign materials and activations reflect consistent brand expression, message discipline, and audience relevance across all channels.
- Lead day-to-day relationships with external agencies and campaign partners, establishing clear expectations, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring work meets quality standards, timelines, and campaign objectives.
- Serve as ACP’s primary day-to-day point of coordination for agency execution, helping translate strategic direction into actionable deliverables and campaign outputs.
- Work closely with the campaign steering committee, composed of senior representatives from member companies, to support alignment, gather input, and maintain momentum across campaign priorities.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with external creative, media, research, and campaign partners that support effective execution, clear accountability, and consistent forward progress across campaign priorities.
- Monitor campaign performance through KPIs, audience metrics, and engagement data, identifying trends and recommending adjustments that improve effectiveness over time.
- Prepare regular campaign updates, performance summaries, and strategic recommendations for internal leadership and steering committee discussions.
- Manage campaign budget tracking, agency spending, and resource planning in partnership with the Vice President, helping guide investment decisions and maintain alignment with approved priorities.
- Apply sound judgment in balancing timelines, resources, and campaign needs while maintaining quality and accountability across deliverables.
- Partner closely with Communications, Membership, Events, Policy, and other internal teams to ensure campaign efforts align with ACP priorities and broader organizational messaging.
- Prepare materials, updates, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership and steering committee discussions, ensuring campaign progress, risks, and decisions are communicated clearly and thoughtfully.
- Help connect campaign execution to broader association opportunities, including events, thought leadership, and member engagement where appropriate.
- Lead through influence across internal and external stakeholders by bringing clarity, sound judgment, and consistent follow-through to complex campaign workstreams.
- Anticipate challenges, identify practical solutions, and make thoughtful adjustments that maintain momentum and support campaign effectiveness as priorities evolve.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public affairs, business, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- 10 years of progressive experience in consumer marketing, brand strategy, integrated campaigns, or related communications leadership roles, with demonstrated success leading complex initiatives from strategy through execution.
- Proven ability to translate strategic direction and audience insights into integrated campaign plans that drive measurable engagement, strengthen brand relevance, and support long-term organizational goals.
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-channel campaign execution across digital, paid, social, earned, and audience engagement efforts, with strong ownership of timelines, deliverables, and outcomes.
- Strong experience managing external agencies, consultants, or campaign partners, with the ability to establish accountability, maintain productive relationships, and guide high-quality work through clear expectations and sound judgment.
- Experience supporting campaign budget planning, tracking spend, and helping guide investment decisions, with the ability to balance priorities, resources, and performance considerations thoughtfully.
- Strong analytical capability and comfort using research, audience insights, and performance data to evaluate effectiveness, identify opportunities, and recommend practical adjustments that improve results.
- Demonstrated strength in planning, prioritization, and execution, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, anticipate challenges, and maintain momentum in a fast-moving environment.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships and work effectively with senior external stakeholders, including committees, member leaders, agencies, and internal leadership, exercising strong relationship management and influence without direct authority.
