ACP is proud to offer a summer internship program which runs for approximately 8 weeks from Tuesday, June 16 – Thursday, August 6, 2026. These positions are required to work on a hybrid office schedule out of our Washington, DC headquarters and, as such, applicants must be local to the DC area or able to relocate to DC for the 8-week period. Internships are paid $20/hour on a semi-monthly pay schedule.
Position Overview
The Events & Conferences (E&C) Intern supports ACP’s events and programming efforts, contributing to the planning, coordination, and delivery of conferences, meetings, and related initiatives. This role provides exposure to how large-scale industry events are developed and executed in support of ACP’s mission and member engagement.
Working closely with the E&C team, the intern will support event logistics, program coordination, and post-event activities while gaining insight into cross-functional collaboration, event operations, and the role conferences play in advancing organizational priorities.

This role may involve working across multiple tasks and adapting to shifting timelines with guidance. Occasional travel or event-related work outside standard business hours may be available depending on team needs.

- Support the planning and coordination of ACP conferences, meetings, and events.
- Assist with program logistics, including speaker coordination, scheduling, and materials preparation.
- Help maintain event-related information and documentation, including attendee lists, session details, and internal tracking materials.
- Support the use of event technology platforms, including registration systems and mobile event tools.
- Assist with on-site or virtual event execution as needed, including day-of coordination and support.
- Contribute to post-event activities, such as feedback collection, reporting, and documentation.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support event-related communications and materials.
- Support additional projects and tasks as needed to meet team priorities.

- Review and synthesize available feedback, insights, or informal input related to early-career or emerging leader engagement across ACP.
- Research comparable emerging leader or early-career programs at peer associations, nonprofits, or mission-driven organizations, with a focus on event-based or community-building models.
- Support the development of initial recommendations for how ACP might structure, position, or pilot Emerging Leaders programming within events or other engagement opportunities.
- Organize research findings and recommendations into clear, usable materials to support internal discussion and future planning.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate, with an interest in event management, communications, business, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with guidance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of teams and stakeholders.
- Relevant coursework or prior internship experience related to events, conferences, or program coordination.
- Familiarity with event registration platforms, databases, or project management tools.
- Interest in clean energy, sustainability, or public policy.
