Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and replace a variety of commercial doors including metal, glass, fire-rated, and specialty doors using hand tools and power tools.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and building plans to ensure accurate installation and alignment of door systems.
- Conduct mechanical repairs on door hardware such as hinges, locks, closers, and automatic operators to ensure proper functionality.
- Perform glass installation and fixture mounting with precision while adhering to safety protocols.
- Use welding equipment when necessary for metal framing or reinforcement tasks on door assemblies.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, fire safety regulations, and industry standards during all phases of installation.
- Assist with heavy lifting of doors, frames, hardware components, and materials while following proper safety procedures.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients to coordinate schedules and deliver quality workmanship on time.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and disposing of debris responsibly.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing client questions or concerns professionally during installations or repairs.
Requirements
- Proven experience in glass installation, door hanging, or related construction roles with a focus on commercial projects.
- Strong mechanical knowledge including hardware repair, metal stud framing, caulking, fixture installation, and electrical work related to automatic door systems.
- Proficiency with hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, drills; power tools including saws and grinders; welding equipment is a plus.
- Construction site experience with the ability to interpret technical drawings accurately.
- Knowledge of building code compliance standards relevant to commercial door installation.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining physical stamina throughout the workday.
- Carpentry skills for framing and finishing touches on door openings or related structures.
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional attitude when interacting with clients or team members.
- Valid experience in construction or handyman roles involving metal framing or electrical tasks is preferred.
- Strong mechanical repair skills for troubleshooting issues with door hardware or automatic systems.
