What are the responsibilities and job description for the Property and Casualty Insurance Account Manager (P&C) position at American Benefits Company?
About the job
We're not just an HR provider. As a Professional Employer Organization (PEO), we help businesses streamline operations by handling payroll and tax filings, workers' comp, employee benefits, and accounting, all in one place. One partner. Total back-office support. Behind all of that is a close-knit team that genuinely has each other's backs. We support each other, work through tough issues together, and celebrate the wins as a group.
We're hiring a Property and Casualty Account Manager who already knows commercial lines inside and out. This isn't a "we'll teach you insurance" role. We need someone who can walk in, pick up a book of commercial accounts, and confidently handle renewals, endorsements, COIs, and claims from day one. We'll teach you our systems and how we do things at ABC. The P&C expertise needs to be yours already. You'll be the trusted point of contact for our P&C clients, delivering white-glove service, getting the details exactly right, and making every interaction feel easy and reassuring.
What you'll do
- Serve as the primary contact for a book of commercial P&C clients via phone, email, and portal
- Independently manage renewals end-to-end: review coverage, identify gaps, gather underwriting info, remarket to carriers when appropriate, and present options clearly
- Process endorsements, certificates of insurance, evidence of insurance, binders, and IDs with zero-defect accuracy
- Handle claims intake (FNOL), coordinate with carriers and adjusters, set expectations, and keep clients informed through resolution
- Answer billing and coverage questions; research discrepancies and resolve issues promptly
- Work directly in carrier portals to quote, bind, and service policies
- Collaborate with producers and carriers to ensure timely, accurate quotes, bind orders, and policy issuance
- Document all client interactions and activities to E&O standards
- Stay current on carrier appetites, underwriting guidelines, and state regulations
- Identify cross-sell opportunities that genuinely benefit clients, including across ABC's full PEO service line
Who we're looking for
- You're the kind of person who already speaks fluent commercial lines. GL, property, auto, umbrella, and workers' comp don't need explaining
- You double-check details because you care if it's correct
- You're calm, kind, and steady, especially when a client is stressed about a claim or coverage issue
- You're organized and timely, and you can juggle a full book without letting anything slip
- You communicate clearly and can translate "insurance-speak" into normal human language
- You take ownership: you don't wait to be told what's next on a renewal, you're already on it
- You treat confidential client information seriously
What you have
- [3 ] years of hands-on experience in commercial lines P&C account management or servicing (required)
- Proven ability to independently handle renewals, remarketing, endorsements, COIs, and claims intake
- Working knowledge of commercial coverages, policy forms, and carrier underwriting requirements
- Experience working in carrier portals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Personal lines experience is a plus
- Active P&C license is a plus but not required
- Experience with an agency management system (Applied Epic or similar) is a plus. We'll train you on ours.
