What are the responsibilities and job description for the Insurance Assistant (P&C) position at American Benefits Company?
About the job
We're not just an HR provider. As a Professional Employer Organization (PEO), we help businesses streamline operations by handling payroll and tax filings, workers' comp, employee benefits, and accounting, all in one place. One partner. Total back-office support. Behind all of that is a close-knit team that genuinely has each other's backs. We support each other, work through tough issues together, and celebrate the wins as a group.
We're hiring a P&C Account Assistant who's ready to take on a challenge and learn a fast-paced, rewarding industry from the ground up. No insurance experience? No problem. We care more about your attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn than what's on your resume. You'll support our Account Managers by servicing accounts, sending out documents, taking client calls, and handling the tasks that keep the team running smoothly. As you go, we'll teach you the ins and outs of property and casualty insurance, and help you build the skills to grow your career in an industry that's always in demand.
What you'll do
- Answer client calls and emails with a friendly, helpful attitude, and route questions to the right person when needed
- Prepare and send out documents such as certificates of insurance, evidence of insurance, ID cards, and policy documents
- Support Account Managers with day-to-day servicing tasks on client accounts
- Help gather information and paperwork needed for renewals, policy changes, and new business
- Keep client records and notes accurate and up to date
- Follow up with clients and carriers on outstanding items so nothing falls through the cracks
- Assist with billing questions and basic account research
- Pitch in wherever the team needs help, because no task is too small when it keeps things running
- Learn and grow into more advanced servicing work as your knowledge builds
Who we're looking for
- You're the kind of person who loves a challenge and isn't afraid of a learning curve
- You're eager to learn and ask questions when something doesn't make sense
- You're organized and dependable. When you say you'll do something, it gets done
- You're friendly and patient on the phone, even when a client is having a rough day
- You pay attention to details because you want to get things right
- You're a team player who's happy to jump in and help wherever you're needed
- You're looking for a career, not just a job, and you want to grow with a company that will invest in you
What you have
- 0–2 years of experience in customer service, administrative, or office work (school, retail, and service jobs count!)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort working on a computer, including email, spreadsheets, and web portals
