Position Title: Van Driver (Male – BFOQ)
Status: Full-time/Hourly
Position Reports to: Transportation Supervisor
Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 5:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Job Summary
The Van Driver provides safe and reliable transportation services for ABHS clients and assists with related facility errands as requested by management. This position is responsible for ensuring adherence to all Washington State Patrol (WSP) and Department of Licensing safety requirements, maintaining the vehicle in good operating condition, and supporting clients with professionalism and care.
Due to operational needs and privacy considerations under WAC 162-16-240, this position requires a male staff member. Duties include transporting male clients to and from appointments, facilities, or other approved destinations; assisting male clients in and out of vehicles when needed; and supporting staff during searches, intakes, or transfers involving male clients.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of driving experience.
- Current driving abstract meeting ABHS standards at the time of hire.
- Must be able to read and follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Must be male, as this role involves transportation and assistance of male clients in situations where privacy and safety must be maintained per WAC 162-16-240.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an Agency Affiliated Counselor credential through the Department of Health.
Physical Demands
Must be able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, and walk. Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to use hands and fingers for various tasks.
Work Environment
Moderate noise level. Requires frequent travel to and from assigned destinations in all weather conditions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to:
1. Safely transport clients to scheduled appointments, facilities, and other destinations, ensuring timeliness and adherence to ABHS policies.
2. Maintain accurate daily driving logs and documentation.
3. Adhere to van maintenance schedules and ensure timely check-ups and servicing.
4. Report vehicle condition and any incidents promptly to the supervisor.
5. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and sanitation in compliance with company standards.
6. Use company-issued cell phones exclusively for business purposes.
7. Perform all duties in a professional, courteous, and caring manner.
8. Transport and assist male clients with privacy and dignity, including during intake, discharge, and inter-facility transfers.
9. Provide support with searches or monitoring activities involving male clients when directed by management.
10. During downtime, assist the Care Team or Facility Monitor department with assigned tasks.
11. Support colleagues as needed to ensure quality services for ABHS clients.
12. Respond to directions from supervisors and management promptly and cooperatively.
13. Ensure all client interactions are conducted with respect, dignity, and confidentiality.
14. Follow all federal confidentiality laws (42 CFR) and ABHS confidentiality policies.
15. Maintain compliance with ABHS policies, procedures, and applicable state regulations (WACs).
16. Obtain and maintain all required credentials and training.
17. Perform additional duties as assigned.
