What are the responsibilities and job description for the Float Universal Banker position at American Bank?
This is an anticipated opening with an expected start date in late August/early September.
Position Summary:
The Universal Banker has all of the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform as a Teller and/or fulfill responsibilities related to account opening and maintenance. The primary focus of this role at any given time will be dependent upon the current needs of the branch. The Universal Banker meets the needs of customers by providing excellent customer service. This role will float between the Southshore branches as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Open and maintain all types of Consumer and Business accounts in accordance with bank policy, including but not limited to BSA, providing accurate quotes on rates, fees and other disclosures, OFAC
- Ensure all account opening documents, maintenance forms, and transactional records are accurately completed, scanned, and retained according to bank policy.
- Maintain advanced knowledge of both personal and business banking products
- Perform New Account Due Diligence
- Perform account maintenance as needed – hot card/reorder, reset PINs, order checks, reset online banking passwords, etc.
- Close accounts when requested, ask probing questions to determine if there was a service error and try to retain the relationship if possible
- Answer customer inquiries via in person or telephone regarding interest rates, service charges and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies.
- Refer customers to proper department for issues that cannot be resolved.
- Work either the desk or the teller line as needed; and ensure teller cash drawer remains within limits
- Serve as Vault Teller as needed; process cash/coin transactions and balance vault
- Complete all teller transactions with accuracy and according to bank policy and procedure, transaction aspects including but not limited to, cash verification, ensuring proper endorsement rules are followed, obtain proper identification and issue receipts
- Examine checks deposited and complete hold notices, availability based on regulation requirements for funds availability
- Identify counterfeit currency, count and roll loose coins
- Ensure work station is properly supplied.
- Review and process various branch reports, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies
- Complete wires requests and send to proper department
- Conduct monthly vault teller audits, vacation/sick audits, and quarterly safety deposit box audits as needed
- Back up Branch Manager as needed
- Consistently support the Bank and its core values
- Follow all policies and procedures
- Additional duties may be assigned by supervisor
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Reliable transportation and the ability to work from the Southshore locations
- 3 year experience as Teller, CSR, UB or other retail banking position
- Clerical, administrative, or sales experience preferred
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to navigate and learn new computer systems
- Exceptional organizational, time management, problem solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Honesty and integrity
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently, with close attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while having a strong commitment to team orientation
- Ability to follow directions, comprehend new training, and adapt to changes in regulations, policies, and procedures
