What are the responsibilities and job description for the Excavator Hammer Operator for Quarry position at American Asphalt Paving Co?
Wilkes-Barre Materials, LLC is seeking a skilled Excavator Hammer Operator for our quarry located in Plains, PA.
Skills and Experience:
- The successful candidate will have two to three years’ experience operating an excavator with a hydraulic hammer attachment.
- The primary responsibility of the position is to maneuver the excavator and hydraulic hammer to crush and break hard rock into manageable chunks for removal.
- The operator may on occasion load haul or triaxle trucks using a bucket attachment.
- The candidate will perform routine maintenance, such as greasing and checking fluid levels, on the excavator and the hammer attachment.
- Possess a solid understanding of how the hydraulic systems of the excavator and hammer work together.
- Desire candidates who have a good working knowledge of quarry plant operations.
- Capable of working outdoors year-round in all types of weather: Hot, cold, rain, snow.
- Must be willing/available to work overtime when necessary, including weekend work.
- Must have a strong commitment to safety, and perform all work according to MSHA, OSHA, and Wilkes-Barre Materials/American Asphalt safety policies.
- Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test, and be willing to submit to, and pass, random drug/alcohol testing.
When not operating the excavator hammer equipment, the successful candidate will:
- Be willing, and have the ability, to perform physical labor when not operating heavy equipment. Perform plant clean up duties in and around the quarry plant.
- Maintain the quarry plant by performing routine maintenance and general servicing on plant equipment such as crushers, conveyors and screens.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
