Overview

Responsibility is to investigate and resolve title problems. Liaise with government agencies, financial institutions,

legal professionals, and other relevant parties involved for a thorough investigation to secure proper title

documentation. Conduct thorough research into title-related issues including discrepancies, liens, and ownership

disputes. Ensures that the credit union’s professional image is maintained. Performs miscellaneous Collection duties

and acts as a resource for the department.

This position requires excellent communication, public relations skills and a thorough understanding of the credit

union’s policies and procedures as well as related legal requirements regarding title processing. Requires

organizational abilities and attention to detail. This position involves thorough investigation, collaboration with

external entities, and adherence to legal and regulatory requirements to secure proper title documentation.

Professionalism and accuracy are vital to the successful execution of this position. Efficiently handles multiple title

processing functions which secure collateral loans for the credit union. Performs miscellaneous Collection duties

and acts as a resource for the department.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts detailed investigations into title-related discrepancies, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation.
  • Secures credit union liens on titles used as collateral for loans.
  • Quality checks member personal data and credit union lien information on all required title paperwork to

  • Work closely with government agencies, legal professionals, and other relevant entities to obtain.

  • Collaborate with internal departments, including records, recovery, dealer relations, lending, and legal

teams, to streamline resolution processes.

  • Performs follow up calls to members, previous owners, auto dealers, financial institutions, and state

motor vehicle offices to determine pending requirements needed to secure the vehicle title.

  • Stay current on state and federal regulations pertaining to vehicle titles and ensure that all title resolutions

adhere to legal and compliance requirements.

  • Implement strategies to mitigate legal risks associated with title-related matters.
  • Communicate with owners/members regarding the status of title resolutions, providing clear and

transparent information throughout the process.

  • Address members inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate records of title investigations, resolutions, and communications in compliance with

organizational policies.

  • Ensure proper documentation for all title-related activities, supporting audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Ensures that the specifically assigned title process is completed in accordance with established policies

and procedures.

  • Receives calls from branches, internal departments and members regarding liens, titles, title processing

and state requirements. Researches and resolves problems, errors, and discrepancies.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance and streamline title resolution processes to increase efficiency and

accuracy.

  • Implement improvements while maintaining a focus on compliance and risk management.
  • Once titles are received from financial institutions or other parties, member outreach is made to

determine which Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to send the title paperwork to for completion by

the member.

  • Stay informed about industry best practices and changes in regulations related to vehicle titles.
  • Provide training and support to department to enhance overall competency in title resolution.
  • Ability to work with private sellers, auto dealers, financial institutions, and state motor vehicle offices to

help obtain titles for members and to secure the credit union lien.

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and manage high volume workloads and handle the

resolution of various collection issues.

  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining professional working relations with members and business contacts.
  • Obtains and conveys information as needed.
  • Answers questions and resolves problems promptly and courteously.
  • Maintains and projects the credit union's professional reputation.
  • Provides expertise in different areas of the department.
  • Assists with related Collection department activities.
  • Assists branches and call centers when a member is reaching out to the Credit Union making.

  • Strong understanding Excel, PowerPoint, and Word programs.
  • Maintains cleanliness and security of work area, desks, and equipment.
  • Completes special projects as required and performs other duties as assigned.

Training/Education/Certification

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent. Additional business education helpful.

Required Knowledge

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Thorough knowledge of loan, credit, and collections policies and procedures.
  • Basic understanding of collections' methods, policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Ability to interpret and understand legal documents, regulatory communications, and guidelines.

Experience Required

  • Two to three years collection background with investigation/skip tracing.
  • Working within a full financial institution helpful.

Skills/Abilities

  • Accuracy and thoroughness in Skip Tracing.
  • Possess strong problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to train and assist others.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to work well in stressful situations.
  • Ability to maintain poise under pressure.
  • Well organized.
  • Able to use computer, calculator, telephone, and other basic business equipment.
