Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and wheelchairs.
- Monitor vital signs and observe health changes to report to nursing staff promptly.
- Administer medications following prescribed care plans and maintain accurate documentation in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Support residents with specialized needs such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism, or developmental disabilities through tailored care strategies.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning while adhering to dietary restrictions and safety protocols.
- Engage residents in social activities, recreational programs, and therapeutic exercises to promote mental and emotional well-being.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties and ensuring infection control standards are met.
- Drive residents to appointments or outings when required, ensuring safe transportation practices.
- Manage conflict or behavioral challenges with patience and effective behavior management techniques.
- Collaborate with case managers, social workers, healthcare teams, and families to develop and update personalized care plans aligned with each resident’s needs.
Requirements
- Prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home care, or hospice care is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations for patient privacy, and basic first aid certification.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks associated with caregiving duties.
- Valid driver’s license for transportation duties; clean driving record preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents of diverse backgrounds including those with disabilities or memory impairments.
- Compassionate attitude combined with excellent conflict management skills to handle challenging situations professionally.
