What are the responsibilities and job description for the Milieu Counselor + QMAP - Adult & Youth Residential Recovery - Lakewood, CO position at Amergis Healthcare Staffing?
The Unlicensed Social Worker/Counselor/Mental Health Clinician provides counseling to patient’s in a variety of settings including medical facilities, hospitals, clinics, learning centers and other organizations that are in need of assistance.
Minimum Requirements:
- Licensing/Certification according to state/facility/contract requirements
- The Counselor may possess an Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing or other Human Development Major
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Provides milieu management, safety monitoring, and supportive intervention for clients who are actively intoxicated or experiencing withdrawal symptoms. The role includes assessing and documenting levels of intoxication, monitoring vital signs and behavior, identifying emergencies, and following Adverse Incident Reporting procedures. Milieu Counselors maintain a safe and organized environment, restock supplies, secure doors and windows, and facilitate or co-facilitate psychoeducation groups. They engage clients in supportive conversations, help identify goals, provide referrals, and may serve as Acting Shift Coordinator when needed. Additional responsibilities include adhering to OSHA and biohazard protocols, transporting clients when approved, participating in supervision, completing timely documentation, and supporting community outreach activities.
