Responsibilities
- Plan and lead engaging lessons that align with curriculum goals and support meaningful learning experiences.
- Foster an atmosphere of respect, wonder, attentiveness, and joyful discovery in the classroom.
- Guide students through rich literature, narration, nature study, history, mathematics, science, fine arts, and other interdisciplinary studies.
- Encourage students in the formation of good habits, character, and personal responsibility.
- Differentiate instruction to support a variety of learning styles and developmental needs.
- Observe and assess student growth through narration, class participation, assignments, and ongoing teacher observation.
- Cultivate strong relationships and communicate effectively with families and colleagues.
- Maintain an orderly and peaceful classroom environment that supports both discipline and freedom within appropriate boundaries.
- Participate in school events, staff development, and collaborative planning with fellow faculty members.
- Model a spirit of humility, curiosity, and lifelong learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Teaching certification is welcomed but not required.
- Previous classroom experience is beneficial but not required.
- Demonstrated ability or desire to work with children in a relational and student-centered environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize instruction thoughtfully and manage classroom responsibilities effectively.
- Appreciation for classical, Christian, or Charlotte Mason educational approaches is preferred.
- A teachable spirit and willingness to grow within Ambleside’s educational philosophy.
