General Statement of Job:
Under limited supervision, provides technical support in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of computer equipment, peripherals, software, and networks at school site computer laboratory. Helps students understand the functions and use of computers. Reports to the School Principal.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Assists teachers and students with computer lab access and programs.
- Maintains computer and printer software applications, licenses and drivers.
- Assists with the technological aspects of the annual yearbook production and morning school-based news programs.
- Instructs students on basic computer functions and computer programs.
- Creates school or District websites.
- Operates, installs, configures, tests and performs repairs to district computer equipment, software, networks and related peripherals. Troubleshoots computer equipment and peripherals.
- Provides instruction and assistance to school personnel in the operation and care of computer equipment, hardware and software.
- Provides recommendations for replacement and upgrades of operating systems, components and software.
- Provides limited technical support for word processing, spreadsheet, database, and other applications.
- Prints and processes a variety of materials, including reports, forms, labels, class schedules, report cards, attendance reports, registration cards, and other material as requested in a timely manner. Utilize a variety of printers.
- Attends and participates in a variety of in-service training programs as assigned.
- Assists other departments on special projects as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment, including a computer, networking equipment, telephone, vehicle, calculator, etc. Must be able to exert up to five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for periods of time. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of five to ten pounds.

Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.

Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving assignments and/or direction from supervisor.

Requires the ability to read a variety of policy and procedure manuals, technical manuals and reports, diagrams, specifications, service manuals, etc. Requires the ability to prepare reports and forms with proper format. Requires the ability to speak with and before others with clarity, voice control and confidence.

Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, and to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form. Requires the ability to learn and understand relatively complex principles and techniques; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision, and to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation. Must have the ability to comprehend and interpret received information.
Verbal Aptitude:
Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow verbal and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with persons of varying educational backgrounds and in a variety of professional languages including computer networking technology.
Numerical Aptitude:
Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, to multiply and divide, to determine percentages and decimals and to determine time.
Form/Spatial Aptitude:
Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape, and visually read various information.
Motor Coordination:
Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes using office machinery; to operate motor vehicles.
Manual Dexterity:
Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, office equipment, control knobs, switches, etc. Must have the ability to use one hand for twisting or turning motion while coordinating other hand with different activities. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
Color Discrimination:
Requires the ability to differentiate colors and shades of color.
Interpersonal Temperament:
Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergency situations or tight deadlines. The worker may be subject to danger or risk to a slight degree.
Physical Communication:
Requires the ability to talk and/or hear with talking defined as expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words and hearing being defined as perceiving nature of sounds by ear.
