Duties
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently to process sales accurately and quickly, handling cash, credit/debit cards, and other payment methods.
- Provide friendly and professional customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and assisting with product selections.
- Conduct product demos when applicable to showcase features and benefits to customers, encouraging engagement and sales.
- Maintain clean, organized shelves through stocking and merchandising efforts, ensuring products are properly displayed and accessible.
- Assist with inventory management by receiving shipments, verifying stock levels, and organizing stockroom areas.
- Upsell additional products or services to enhance customer satisfaction and increase sales opportunities.
- Ensure adherence to phone etiquette standards when answering inquiries or assisting customers over the phone.
- Support store operations by supervising new team members when needed and providing guidance on store policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate cash handling procedures, including balancing registers at shift end and managing cash register reconciliations.
- Promote a positive shopping experience by communicating clearly with customers and team members, demonstrating excellent communication skills.
- Participate in store cleanup activities to uphold safety standards and create an inviting environment for shoppers.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail sales or grocery stores is preferred but not required; we value enthusiasm and a willingness to learn!
- Strong basic math skills for handling transactions accurately and performing retail math calculations.
- Experience with POS systems is advantageous; familiarity with cash handling procedures is essential.
- Excellent communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience or leadership qualities are desirable for supporting team functions.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as stocking shelves, lifting boxes, and standing for extended periods.
